Bodyshop Electrical & Automation Maintenance Senior Specialist

About the role

The Bodyshop Electrical & Automation Maintenance Senior Specialist leads the electrical and automation team in a highly automated automotive Body‑in‑White (BIW) assembly area. The role ensures reliable operation of robotic welding, assembly, and material‑handling equipment while maintaining strict safety and code compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage troubleshooting, modification, and optimisation of PLC programs (Siemens S7 preferred) for robotic cells, interlocks and safety functions.
• Oversee maintenance of high‑frequency resistance welding equipment, weld controllers, transformers and cables.
• Supervise Motor Control Centers, Variable Frequency Drives and power distribution for conveyors and heavy machinery.
• Maintain industrial communication networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Profibus, DeviceNet) linking robots, PLCs, safety scanners and vision systems.
• Lead Root Cause Analysis for electrical/automation downtime and use CMMS to schedule preventive maintenance, improving OEE.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics.
• 3‑5 years of hands‑on electrical maintenance in high‑volume manufacturing.
• Proven leadership and cross‑functional communication with production, mechanical maintenance and process engineers.

Required skills

• PLC programming (Siemens S7), ladder logic, structured text, function block diagrams.
• Variable Frequency Drives, servo drives, Motor Control Centers setup and tuning.
• Industrial networking protocols: Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Profibus, DeviceNet.
• High‑frequency resistance welding equipment maintenance.
• Root Cause Analysis and CMMS usage.
• Understanding of safety PLCs and safety circuit design.
