Buyer – Direct Procurement

About the role

The Buyer – Direct Procurement will manage sourcing and supplier performance for components used in Schneider Electric’s energy management and automation solutions. Based in Cairo, the role supports the “Local for Local” strategy, ensuring cost‑efficient, reliable and sustainable supply while driving competitiveness and resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Execute sourcing strategies aligned with Schneider Electric’s Global Category Management framework, leading RFQs, supplier selection and commercial negotiations for electrical enclosures, sheet metal, plastics, and electromechanical assemblies.
• Ensure compliance with technical, quality and regulatory standards for all sourced components.
• Identify, qualify and onboard suppliers, assessing manufacturing processes, quality systems, capacity and scalability.
• Monitor and drive supplier KPIs such as on‑time delivery, quality (PPM), lead‑time performance and cost productivity, conducting business reviews and corrective actions.
• Deliver annual cost‑reduction and productivity targets through should‑cost analysis, benchmarking and value engineering initiatives.
• Manage purchase orders, contracts and supplier data in SAP and Schneider Electric digital procurement tools, ensuring policy compliance and accurate reporting.
• Collaborate with global category managers, engineering, quality, planning, logistics and manufacturing teams to support new product introduction and industrialisation projects.
• Contribute to the “Local for Local” roadmap by developing local supplier ecosystems to improve lead times, supply continuity and cost efficiency.
