Data Scientist – Analytics & Business Intelligence

About the role

The Data Scientist will turn complex operational data into actionable insights that drive decision‑making and improve efficiency across the organization. You will work with datasets from timetables, ridership, maintenance systems and more, delivering models, visualisations and reporting tools.

Key responsibilities

• Perform data extraction, cleaning, transformation and preprocessing to ensure high‑quality data.
• Design, test and deploy machine‑learning and AI models for predictive and operational use cases.
• Maintain a library of analytical scripts, tools and programs.
• Create and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI, Qlik Sense and other visualisation platforms.
• Collaborate with internal departments to define data needs, establish data streams and enhance KPI tracking.
• Document processes, produce user guides and support adoption of reporting solutions.
• Promote a safety‑first culture and comply with RDMC RQHSE policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related STEM field.
• 3–5 years of experience in data science, analytics or business intelligence.
• Fluent English; French is a plus.
• Strong understanding of relational databases and ability to write SQL queries.
• Knowledge of data‑visualisation concepts and practical solution development.
