Donor Center Technician – Plasmapheresis Specialist

About the role

The Donor Center Technician is responsible for evaluating donor suitability and operating the automated plasmapheresis machine to ensure safe and efficient plasma collection. Working under the supervision of certified staff, the technician follows strict Standard Operating Procedures and regulatory guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct pre‑donation medical screening, including vital signs, medical history, hematocrit (HCT) and protein measurements using finger‑stick, hematastat and refractometer.
• Set up, monitor, and disconnect the plasmapheresis machine while ensuring donor safety and comfort.
• Document donor information accurately, maintain confidentiality, and update donor files.
• Provide feedback to ineligible donors and respond to troubleshooting alerts on the machine.
• Report unsafe conditions, assist in emergency medical procedures, and comply with cGMP, SOPs, and local regulations.

Required profile

• Graduate of a nursing program or Health Technical Institute (or equivalent).
• At least 1 year of clinical experience, preferably in plasma or whole‑blood collection.
• Strong communication and customer‑service skills in English and Arabic.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, highly regulated medical environment.

Required skills

• Operation of automated plasmapheresis equipment.
• Use of hematastat and refractometer for HCT and protein testing.
• Troubleshooting of machine displays and alerts.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) standards.
