English Teacher / HOD AY26-27

About the role

Westview International Language School is looking for a qualified and experienced English Teacher/Head of Department (HOD) for the academic year 26-27. The role leads the English language department, ensures high standards of teaching and curriculum development, and guides a team of teachers toward academic excellence. It is a full-time, on-site position.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the English Department to ensure excellence in teaching and learning.
• Develop, implement and monitor the English curriculum in line with the school's academic standards.
• Support, mentor and evaluate English teachers through coaching, lesson observations and performance feedback.
• Monitor students' academic progress and put in place strategies to improve learning outcomes.
• Ensure high-quality planning, teaching, assessment and curriculum delivery across all grade levels.
• Foster a collaborative, innovative and positive learning environment within the department.
• Coordinate departmental meetings and contribute to whole-school initiatives.
• Work closely with the School Leadership Team to achieve the school's strategic objectives.
• Promote continuous professional development and best teaching practices.
• Ensure compliance with school policies, safeguarding requirements and academic expectations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in German Language, Education or a related field.
• Proven experience teaching German and in a leadership role, preferably as a Head of Department.
• Strong organizational, communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire students and staff.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Required skills

• Familiarity with curriculum development and assessment techniques.
• Safeguarding compliance; all appointments are subject to background and reference checks.
