Firewall Specialist

About the role

The Firewall Specialist is responsible for administering, managing, and optimizing firewall and network security solutions to protect the organization’s infrastructure and data. This role ensures secure network boundaries, enforces security policies, and supports incident response activities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and administer firewall technologies to ensure secure and efficient traffic flow across network environments.
• Configure, maintain, and regularly review firewall rules, policies, and access controls in line with security standards.
• Monitor network traffic and security logs to detect, analyze, and respond to potential threats and vulnerabilities.
• Perform regular firewall policy optimization, cleanup, and compliance checks.
• Coordinate firewall updates, patching, and firmware upgrades with change‑management processes.
• Support incident response investigations and remediation of security incidents.
• Conduct routine health checks, risk assessments, and security audits.
• Maintain accurate documentation of firewall configurations, policies, and operational procedures.

Required profile

• Proven experience in firewall administration and network security.
• Strong understanding of security policies, access controls, and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to analyze security logs and respond to incidents promptly.
