Food Purchaser - IKEA Cairo Festival City

About the role

The Food Purchaser oversees the purchasing and supply of all national IKEA FOOD products at the Cairo Festival City outlet. The role optimizes supply chain efficiency and ensures adherence to IKEA's purchasing processes and standards, working closely with the IKEA Food Manager and other stakeholders so that stocks are ordered efficiently and meet quality and safety requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Purchase food, beverage, general and operating equipment efficiently and cost-effectively according to IKEA FOOD requirements.
• Liaise with the IKEA Food Manager and Kitchen Production Manager to secure F&B requirements, propose economical order quantities and set Par Stock levels.
• Ensure proper operating standards in purchasing, receiving, store and goods issuing, and maintain a vendor performance file.
• Conduct regular vendor inspections with the Health & Safety leader and culinary leadership, and scrutinize receiving of all F&B items for safety.
• Follow IKEA purchasing policy, requiring three quotations for quality and price comparison approved by the Regional SO Team.
• Implement monthly stock takes, prepare discrepancy reports and follow up on them, and resolve overstock and shortages quickly.
• Build relationships with matrix partners, process supplier requisitions in the NAVISON system, and keep stores clean and organized.
• Coordinate with the IFB Admin for invoice postings, read and analyze KPI and P&L reports, and contribute to menu development using sustainable, certified resources.

Required profile

• High school degree or equivalent; a bachelor's degree in business administration, management, finance or a related field is preferred.
• 3-5 years of food purchasing experience in food trading, food retailing or the hotel and restaurant industry.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and to stand, bend, climb or walk consistently.
• Familiarity with global food certifications and sustainable sourcing practices.
