Head of Technology (Cairo)

About the role

Flend, Egypt’s leading digital SME lender, is seeking a Head of Technology to drive its technology strategy and execution. Reporting to the CTO and based onsite in Cairo, you will own the roadmap for the loan management system, credit and risk engines, data platform, customer‑facing applications and AI/ML capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve a three‑year technology roadmap covering core lending platforms, partner integrations, data infrastructure and AI/ML services.
• Lead the design and build of mission‑critical systems such as LMS enhancements, credit scoring engines, AML integrations, pricing calculations and self‑service top‑up experiences.
• Architect a centralized data lake/warehouse that consolidates partner, client, transactional and risk data for analytics and AI workloads.
• Own the end‑to‑end customer‑facing application stack, including a full redesign of the mobile app and future WhatsApp‑native loan management.
• Build and structure the engineering organization, hire senior engineers, define team topology and set engineering standards.
• Instill a lean‑by‑design culture with strong automation, code‑review, testing, deployment and incident‑response practices.
• Maintain Flend’s information‑security posture across application, infrastructure, data protection, access management and vendor security to meet regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading technology functions in a fast‑moving fintech or digital lending environment.
• Strong background in designing, scaling and securing complex software platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to build and manage high‑performing engineering teams.
• Deep understanding of information‑security standards and regulatory compliance in financial services.
