Landscape Engineer

About the role

The Landscape Engineer will lead horticulture and facilities operations for a hotel environment, ensuring high‑quality landscape maintenance, safety compliance, and energy efficiency. You will manage a skilled team, oversee building systems, and support capital improvement projects.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit, train, supervise and mentor a high‑performing landscape and maintenance team.
• Maintain safety and compliance for building, mechanical, electrical, HVAC and life‑safety systems; coordinate inspections.
• Oversee daily maintenance activities, prioritize tasks, and verify completion through the property maintenance management system.
• Support capital projects and property rehabilitations, handling scheduling, budgeting, contractor bidding, licensing and permitting.
• Develop and manage property‑wide energy‑conservation programs to reduce utility costs.
• Monitor engineering KPIs, equipment upkeep, audit results and team productivity, implementing improvements as needed.
• Collaborate with hotel leadership on evacuation procedures, duty‑manager coverage and other safety protocols.

Required profile

• Degree in Horticulture or a related field (required).
• Trade qualification or similar training (preferred).
• Senior‑level experience with extensive knowledge of horticulture operations, preferably in the hotel industry.
• Current knowledge of modern horticulture trends and applications.
• Exposure to budgeting and basic accounting.
• Strong leadership experience managing a team.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with computers and relevant software.
• Experience using a property maintenance management system.
• Knowledge of HVAC, mechanical and electrical systems.
• Ability to develop and implement energy‑conservation programs.
