Offset Plateroom Technician – Lanett, AL

About the role

Smurfit Westrock is seeking an Offset Plateroom Technician for its folding‑carton facility in Lanett, Alabama. The role involves building printing jobs using specialized software and producing offset plates, coater plates, die vinyls and spot sheets while ensuring equipment reliability and a safe work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate software to step‑and‑repeat graphics and build print jobs.
• Load, run and unload plate‑making equipment, including plate setters, processors and plotter tables.
• Maintain and calibrate plateroom equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Produce print proofs and stage plates, vinyls and spot sheets according to the press production schedule.
• Complete required documentation such as quality records, job checklists and certificates of analysis in line with ISO standards.
• Maintain housekeeping, organization and safety standards within the plateroom.

Required profile

• Ability to read and follow instructional, procedural and assembly manuals.
• Strong attention to detail when producing graphic files for plate making.
• Capability to follow sequential tasks accurately and work with a sense of urgency.
• Adaptability to schedule changes and effective communication with leadership, maintenance, press crews and graphics teams.
• Willingness to undergo a drug screening after a conditional offer.

Required skills

• Operation of offset plate‑making equipment (plate setter, processor, plotter).
• Proficiency with plate‑making software for step‑and‑repeat graphics.
• Intermediate computer skills.
• Knowledge of ISO documentation requirements.
