About the role

A full-time Pastry Commis 2 position at the Sofitel Cairo Downtown Nile, part of the Accor network of more than 45 brands, 5,500 hotels and 10,000 restaurants. The role supports the Senior Chef and Bakery team in preparing bakery items for daily service, buffets and events.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and baking of breads, pastries, cakes and other bakery items.
• Follow standard recipes, portion controls and presentation specifications.
• Support the Senior Chef and Bakery team in daily mise-en-place.
• Ensure baked products are consistent in quality, taste and appearance.
• Maintain proper storage, labeling and rotation of bakery ingredients.
• Uphold hygiene, sanitation and safety standards in line with HACCP guidelines.
• Operate bakery equipment safely and efficiently (mixers, ovens, proofers).
• Assist with inventory control, stock replenishment and waste reduction.
• Help prepare items on time for buffet setups, events and daily service.
• Keep the workstation clean and organised.

Required profile

• Previous bakery or pastry experience (hotel experience preferred).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow instructions.
• Positive attitude, teamwork and willingness to learn.
• Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
• Prior experience with Opera or a related system is an asset.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of baking techniques, dough handling and pastry fundamentals.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
