Project Manager - Early Childhood Development

About the role

The Project Manager will lead the UNICEF‑funded programme aimed at ensuring learning continuity for vulnerable school‑age children in Egypt. Based in Cairo, the role oversees a multi‑component initiative that includes early childhood education, non‑formal learning, child protection and community engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead implementation across all target governorates, developing detailed annual workplans, schedules and operational plans.
• Ensure achievement of project outputs, outcomes, indicators and deliverables while monitoring progress against approved workplans.
• Identify operational risks and put mitigation measures in place to guarantee uninterrupted delivery.
• Oversee learning recovery programmes, non‑formal education, community‑based learning spaces, early childhood and kindergarten activities, child protection, psychosocial support, WASH interventions, positive parenting and community awareness campaigns.
• Establish and equip learning spaces to meet project standards.
• Serve as the primary focal point for UNICEF, maintaining strong relationships with ministries, local authorities and community organisations.
• Coordinate with UNICEF technical teams to ensure compliance with programme requirements.
• Lead and supervise multidisciplinary project teams, providing coaching, mentoring and performance management.
• Build capacity of facilitators, teachers and community workers and ensure staff understand safeguarding and donor obligations.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary project teams in development or education programmes.
• Ability to develop and manage detailed workplans, implementation schedules and operational plans.
• Experience coordinating with government ministries and international donors such as UNICEF.
• Knowledge of safeguarding obligations and donor compliance requirements.
• Strong stakeholder management and risk mitigation skills.
