Project Manager / Project Engineer - Data Center

About the role

Advansys is looking for a Project Manager / Project Engineer to support the Project Director in the day-to-day delivery of the KEMET data center project in Cairo. The role covers coordination with owners' engineers, designers, consultants, EPC contractors and vendors, and keeps the project programme, budget, risks and progress under control.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the integrated project programme, milestones, deliverables and critical path, and track progress through design, procurement and construction.
• Coordinate daily with the Owner's Engineer, designers, consultants, EPC contractors and vendors; coordinate interfaces between civil, electrical, mechanical, ICT, security and utility workstreams.
• Follow up site activities such as power, fibre, utilities, permits and external interfaces.
• Review technical submittals and drawings, flag issues to the Project Director, and prepare tender documents and support bid evaluation.
• Track the budget, commitments and invoices against the cost plan, maintain the risk register and follow up mitigation actions.
• Monitor contractor progress, quality and HSE, and report deviations.
• Prepare meeting minutes, weekly and monthly progress reports, and track change requests and variations with cost and schedule impact.
• Support testing, commissioning, integrated systems testing and handover documentation, and help build the project-management templates, processes and tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Approximately 5-8 years of project engineering or project management experience, including at least 5-6 years on data center projects (mandatory).
• Hands-on experience through design, construction and commissioning, and experience coordinating consultants, contractors and vendors.
• Interest in working on the owner's side alongside a senior Project Director.
• Fluent professional English and Arabic; based in Egypt or willing to relocate.
• Preferred: experience across several data center or mission-critical projects, exposure to Tier III or equivalent high-availability infrastructure, and experience in Egypt, the GCC or the wider Middle East.

Required skills

• Planning with Primavera P6 or MS Project, and cost-tracking and reporting.
• Good understanding of MEP systems and mission-critical infrastructure.
• PMP, CAPM, PRINCE2 or equivalent certification, or working towards one (preferred).
