Senior Backend Developer (Java)

About the role

Advansys is looking for a Senior Backend Developer (Java) in Cairo. The role covers analyzing business requirements for Vodafone products and services, designing and implementing them, owning the code end-to-end, and working in an Agile team while ensuring quality, security and privacy compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze business requirements and approach simple, optimal designs for products and services
• Own the code from design through development, with third-line support for live complaints requiring fixes or enhancements
• Communicate with technical and business stakeholders to agree on requirements and proposed design
• Ensure proper documentation and share knowledge with team members
• Ensure the team adopts automation and DevOps techniques and follows Vodafone's security and privacy standards

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
• Experience in software engineering and in managing full application stacks from the OS up through custom applications
• Strong data-driven analytical skills, good communication skills and comfort in a multi-tasking, high-energy environment
• Plus: exposure to virtualization, cloud computing and cybersecurity

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with cloud-based infrastructure (OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker)
• Hands-on experience with DevOps tools
• 3+ years of programming experience; Java frameworks, Hibernate, databases, Node.js and/or Angular are a plus
• Good knowledge of computer networks
