Senior Contracts Engineer

About the role

Sabbour Consulting is seeking a Senior Contracts Engineer to lead contract administration, commercial compliance, and risk management for major infrastructure and construction projects. The role ensures contracts are managed according to FIDIC standards, variations and claims are handled efficiently, and internal processes align with industry best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Lead contract administration for assigned projects, ensuring compliance with contract terms and FIDIC 1999/2017 standards.
• Draft, review, and issue contractual correspondence on behalf of the consultant/employer.
• Manage variations and claims from identification through negotiation and settlement.
• Participate in commercial and contractual meetings with clients, contractors, and sub‑consultants.
• Prepare risk registers, commercial reports, and dashboards for senior management.
• Review sub‑consultancy or joint‑venture agreements, aligning scopes, liabilities, and obligations.
• Support dispute resolution processes and prepare position papers.
• Mentor junior staff and improve internal contract templates and processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in contract management, claims, procurement, or commercial roles, preferably on mega‑projects or infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts, government contracts, consultancy, and EPC projects.
• Proven ability to prepare and defend claims (EOT, disruption, cost) and negotiate with contractors and sub‑consultants.
• Familiarity with change‑control procedures and dispute‑avoidance strategies.
