Senior Planning Engineer

About the role

Hitachi Rail GTS Egypt is looking for a Senior Planning Engineer in Cairo to develop, monitor and control project schedules so that projects are delivered successfully. The role covers planning, progress measurement, forecasting, risk analysis, resource loading and reporting to management and project stakeholders. It also includes forensic schedule analysis, claims support and dispute resolution.

Key responsibilities

• Create, update and monitor project schedules in P6, including customer, partner and supplier dependencies
• Provide reports and metrics such as Critical Path, Earned Value, S-curves, EAC variance, critical milestones, KPIs and labour forecasts
• Generate clear reporting to management and stakeholders and support schedule optimization to increase float, secure delivery and reduce cost and rework
• Analyze report data to identify trends, risks and issues and work with the core team to resolve them
• Support bids requiring a full schedule: analyze tender documents, write a Schedule Narrative, estimate planning effort and lead the creation of the bid schedule
• Perform forensic schedule analysis of delays and disruptions, including cause-and-effect analysis of excusable, compensable and concurrent delays
• Support Legal and Contracts on Extension of Time (EOT) claims, and support claims and dispute resolution including arbitration and litigation
• Develop delay analysis methods such as TIA, Windows Analysis and As-built vs As-planned, and prepare technical reports and expert documents
• Work with project managers, legal teams and consultants on productivity loss, disruption and acceleration claims

Required profile

• 6-7 years of experience in complex technology-based projects, preferably in the Metro/Rail sector
• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field (preferred)
• 7 years of experience in planning/scheduling and 2 years in forensic planning or claims analysis (preferred)
• Professional certifications such as PMP, PSP or MRICS preferred
• Able to plan and manage program schedules for projects with over 1,500 activities
• Knowledge of contract conditions (FIDIC, NEC)

Required skills

• Expert-level skills in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project
• Advanced/Expert skills in Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge of TILOS and Primavera Risk analysis is an added advantage
