Shift Engineer – Maintenance & Guest Services

About the role

The Shift Engineer is responsible for maintaining the operational integrity of guest rooms, kitchen, mechanical rooms and surrounding facilities. You will respond to guest repair requests, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure a safe, comfortable environment for all visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Attend to guest repair requests and communicate resolutions promptly.
• Carry out preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen equipment, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
• Visually inspect equipment, identify shut‑off valves, and operate utility shut‑offs.
• Maintain inventory, requisition parts and supplies, and log daily activities for shift hand‑over.
• Perform surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood‑trim repairs.
• Test, troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical components, HVAC filters, lighting, and TV programming.
• Execute lockout/tagout procedures before any maintenance work.
• Maintain interior and exterior landscaping, including sprinkler systems.
• Follow all safety, security and company policies, and report hazards or incidents.

Required profile

• Basic knowledge of air‑conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic controls and carpentry.
• Ability to lift, carry or move objects up to 50 lb and perform heavier tasks with assistance.
• Strong communication skills for shift hand‑over and guest interaction.
• Commitment to safety procedures and professional appearance.
