Trader – Phosphate Rock & Fertilizers

About the role

Phosmark Inc. trades phosphate fertilizers and phosphate raw materials. We are looking for a trader to originate and execute business in Egyptian phosphate rock and adjacent products, and to build a durable flow that fits the Phosmark book.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, qualify and secure supply of Egyptian phosphate rock across grades, building a mapped supply base of producers, mine operators, exporters and logistics providers.
• Develop demand‑side counterparties in destination markets such as India, Bangladesh, Turkey, Indonesia, Pakistan, Europe and Brazil, and originate complementary products like DAP, MAP, TSP, SSP, phosphoric acid and sulphur.
• Structure and execute bankable trades (spot cargoes, repeat tonnage, FOB/CFR, bulk vessel or container), negotiating price, grade, penalties, lay‑can, demurrage and payment terms.
• Maintain a working view of market fundamentals, report pipeline, margins and exposures, and ensure compliance with risk appetite.

Required profile

• Proven track record originating or trading phosphate rock, phosphate fertilizers or comparable dry bulk commodities, with a verifiable network on at least one side of the Egyptian trade.
• Strong command of international trade mechanics (Incoterms, bulk chartering, quality/weight determination, LCs, documentary risk, demurrage) and commercial judgement under uncertainty.
• Fluent English, ability to work independently and remotely, and willingness to travel to mines, ports and customers.
• Arabic language ability and familiarity with Egyptian mining regions, export ports and licensing is strongly preferred.
