Construction Technician

About the role

Otis is seeking a Construction Technician to ensure safe and efficient installation, testing, and commissioning of elevators and escalators at client sites in Cairo. You will work hands‑on with mechanical and electrical components, following strict safety procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Complete safety checklists before startup and verify all points are addressed.
• Inspect, clean, lubricate and test guide shoes, rollers, over‑speed governors and safety action mechanisms.
• Perform static balancing of units, adjust counterweights, and set final limits.
• Install and adjust door skates, locks and verify bolt tightness at each landing.
• Inspect rope clips, traveling cables and ensure safety devices stop lift operation when required.
• Conduct unit safety checks by travelling the car top, checking for interferences.
• Test electrical functions including car doors, buttons and intercoms.
• Set controller parameters, adjust acceleration/deceleration and ride quality to Otis standards.
• Execute escalator tests, remove comb plates, wind motor for a full cycle and verify no obstructions.
• Prepare installation inspection reports, field test data, safety check reports and Otis safety audits.

Required profile

• 3–6 years of experience in the elevator or escalator sector.
• Strong knowledge of electricity and electrical engineering.
• Commitment to safety as a top priority.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work independently or within a team.
• Comfortable using electronic and digital tools.
