Fraud Analyst – Africa (Issuing Fraud Management)

About the role

The Fraud Analyst will join the Issuing Fraud Management team covering Africa, monitoring financial transactions around the clock to detect and act on suspicious activity. The role involves direct interaction with cardholders, banks, acquirers and merchants to prevent fraud losses and ensure compliance with internal and external standards.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor card spend and account payments 24/7 according to company procedures and service standards.
• Review and triage alerts generated by the fraud detection tool, applying predefined rules.
• Contact cardholders and merchants to verify suspicious transactions and update systems accordingly.
• Identify emerging fraud trends and execute appropriate mitigation actions.
• Achieve daily alert‑evaluation targets and ensure no pending alerts remain at shift end.
• Escalate critical issues through proper channels for rapid resolution.
• Provide timely fraud notifications to internal teams and client banks via email.
• Support ad‑hoc tasks, reporting, and case closure within required timeframes.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to audit, compliance and code‑of‑conduct policies.

Required profile

• Experience in inbound call‑center environments or card‑fraud investigation.
• Knowledge of card fraud, online wire fraud and broader fraud investigation techniques.
• Familiarity with banking products, service standards and related processes.
