Mechanical Engineer – Data Center Systems

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to develop and coordinate mechanical designs for mission‑critical data centre facilities. The role involves delivering reliable HVAC, cooling and fire protection solutions that meet stringent resiliency standards for our clients across the telecommunications and energy sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Develop mechanical designs for data centre facilities in line with project requirements, client specifications, codes and industry standards.
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, design criteria, specifications, BOQs and construction drawings.
• Design and coordinate HVAC, CRAH/CRAC, chilled water, condenser water, chiller plant, cooling tower, air‑side distribution, containment, ventilation, pressurisation, smoke management, fire protection and mechanical piping systems.
• Perform cooling load calculations, equipment sizing, pipe sizing, airflow calculations and hydraulic analyses.
• Ensure designs meet data‑centre resiliency configurations such as N, N+1 and 2N.
• Develop and maintain BIM models up to LOD 300 and review LOD 400 shop drawings and contractor models.
• Prepare equipment layouts, plant‑room arrangements, service routing drawings and IFC drawing packages.
• Conduct clash detection and multidisciplinary coordination using BIM tools.
• Coordinate mechanical interfaces with electrical, civil, structural, architectural, ICT, security and fire‑protection disciplines.
• Review shop drawings, vendor submissions, equipment schedules and technical data sheets for compliance.
• Support procurement through technical evaluations and material reviews.
• Provide technical support during construction, testing, commissioning and handover.
