Operation and Maintenance Engineer

About the role

The Operation and Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the day‑to‑day operation and reliability of Air Products’ hydrogen production facilities at the Ain Sokhna site. Working closely with site personnel and the customer (St Gobain), you will ensure continuous, safe, and efficient operation of two PHG 250 SMR units, the hydrogen compressor and the backup system.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, troubleshoot and maintain the PHG 250 Steam Methane Reformers, hydrogen compressor and associated backup systems.
• Implement and monitor compliance with all relevant EH&S regulations and Air Products safety processes.
• Participate in safety meetings, report hazards through the Basic Safety Practice system and act on corrective actions.
• Provide on‑call support for site security, emergency preparedness and incident management.
• Maintain discipline, punctuality, housekeeping standards and use appropriate PPE at all times.
• Coordinate with customer representatives to ensure product quality and delivery requirements are met.
• Collaborate with internal resources to achieve productivity and reliability targets.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of EH&S regulations applicable to industrial gas facilities.
• Experience in operating and maintaining hydrogen production equipment, especially SMR units and compressors.
• Ability to work on‑call and respond quickly to safety or operational incidents.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
