Production Planning Engineer

About the role

The Production Planning Engineer is responsible for creating and maintaining detailed production schedules that align with the Master Production Schedule, customer demand, and delivery commitments. This role ensures that daily and weekly plans are executed efficiently to meet on‑time delivery targets and production attainment goals.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and control detailed production schedules in line with the MPS and customer orders.
• Generate, release, monitor, and close production work orders, allocating materials accurately to sales orders.
• Coordinate production activities across manufacturing sections to optimise resource utilisation and meet delivery dates.
• Prioritise production based on customer requirements, capacity, material readiness, and operational constraints.
• Monitor schedule adherence, analyse deviations, and communicate impacts to sales and stakeholders.
• Plan and control raw material and purchased item orders, adjusting releases, firming, deferring, or cancelling as needed.
• Maintain inventory levels within target ranges, manage safety stock, and identify slow‑moving or obsolete items.
• Collect, analyse, and report KPIs such as Production Attainment, Loading Days, and OTIF.
• Resolve planning issues through data analysis and cross‑functional coordination.
• Support continuous improvement of planning and material control processes using MRP and planning systems.

Required profile

• At least 2 years of experience in production planning or a related manufacturing role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Production, Industrial, Mechanical or equivalent).
• Familiarity with professional certificates such as CPIM, ISO 9001, Root Cause Analysis, or Project Management is a plus.

Required skills

• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Basic experience with digital forms, documentation, and online reporting tools.
• Knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP or Oracle.
