Health & Safety Specialist - Damietta

About the role

SGS, a Swiss multinational providing inspection, verification, testing and certification services, is hiring a Health & Safety Specialist based in Damietta. The role covers implementation and maintenance of the HSE management system, site inspections, risk control, incident support and HSE training.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the HSE management system in line with ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015, and ensure compliance with local regulations, client requirements and internal policies
• Control HSE documentation, including reports, checklists and Non-Conformance Reports, in coordination with the HSE Manager
• Carry out site inspections and safety audits, and take part in risk assessments and Permit to Work reviews
• Monitor PPE use and promote a proactive safety culture, and coordinate closure of safety observations and audit findings
• Support incident investigations, including root cause analysis, and deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and awareness training
• Take part in emergency preparedness drills

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, science or a closely related technical field
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of dedicated HSE experience, preferably in industrial, port, marine or service-sector environments
• NIOSH, IOSH, OSHA or equivalent HSE certification highly preferred
• Excellent spoken and written English

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 documentation and audit processes
• Understanding of risk assessment, incident reporting and safety documentation systems
• Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with modern HSE reporting tools
• Attention to detail, organization and autonomy
