Plant Electrician

About the role

The Plant Electrician is responsible for organizing, executing, and installing fixed‑plant electrical and instrumentation maintenance across the Sukari gold mining operation. This frontline technical position ensures complex machinery operates to OEM specifications, minimizes processing plant downtime, and follows a strict corporate safety framework.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance, service, and installation of all electrical and instrumentation equipment in the processing plant.
• Ensure all work complies with Australian Standard wiring rules and OEM specifications.
• Identify and rectify breakdowns quickly, interpreting complex electrical blueprints, line schematics, and instrumentation drawings.
• Execute and close preventive‑maintenance work orders within the SGM Enterprise Asset Management system.
• Support procurement by identifying required spare parts and coordinating with the electrical supervisor.
• Enforce safety protocols, including “Take 5” checks and Job Safety Analyses for non‑standard tasks.
• Share technical knowledge with team members and contractors, maintaining high performance standards.

Required profile

• An Electrical Trade Certificate or a recognized tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance within an industrial or mining environment.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and instrumentation drawings.
• Familiarity with OEM specifications and Australian wiring standards.
