Senior Backend Developer

About the role

Octo is building a digital banking platform for the 19 million Egyptians who have bank accounts but no credit cards. As a Senior Backend Developer you will join the core engineering team to design, develop and ship scalable Python/Django services that power Visa‑card issuance and credit products.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement high‑quality backend features in close collaboration with the product team.
• Develop, test and deploy medium to large‑scale projects using Django and RESTful APIs.
• Maintain and optimise relational and non‑relational databases for reliability and performance.
• Write unit tests and ensure code meets the highest security and reliability standards.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and define engineering best practices.
• Mentor junior engineers and support the team in an agile, fast‑paced environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 4–5 years of professional backend development experience.
• Proven track record of delivering complex, production‑ready software.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication and independent research abilities.
