About the role
The Shift Lead Engineer supervises plant operations, coordinating workflow and interfacing with industrial, maintenance, and business development teams. This role ensures optimal performance, safety, and reliability of production processes while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Organise unit activity and workflow, acting as the main interface with Industrial, Maintenance, and Business Development teams.
- Collaborate with the Smart Innovative Operation/Optimization Center (SIOC) to optimise facility performance, focusing on efficiency, reliability and energy sourcing strategies.
- Follow and contribute to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), participating in SOP writing and continuous improvement.
- Monitor the unattended control room, respond to alarms, troubleshoot via DCS and other platforms, and attend escalated issues on‑site.
- Investigate operational issues to reduce detection‑to‑clearance time and safely operate the plant in non‑standard modes.
- Coordinate automated loading systems with material and bulk product drivers for safe loading/unloading.
- Execute start‑up and shut‑down procedures in compliance with SOPs.
- Perform routine M1 maintenance tasks, equipment health inspections, and facility checks, logging observations to minimise downtime.
- Manage local spare‑parts and consumables inventory, including purchase order creation and storage.
- Communicate production plans, customer requirements and incident management to external customers under Facility Manager delegation.
- Mentor site colleagues, share knowledge, and support incident investigations and corrective actions.
- Participate in plant meetings and promote compliance with Group directives.
Required profile
- Proven experience in plant operations and maintenance within an industrial environment.
- Ability to work under pressure, respond to alarms, and coordinate on‑site interventions.
- Strong communication skills for interfacing with internal teams and external customers.
Required skills
- Distributed Control System (DCS) operation and troubleshooting.
- M1 maintenance procedures, including analyzer checks, calibration, safety valve inspection, and oil sampling.
- Automated loading system coordination.
- Knowledge of SOP development and continuous improvement processes.
