Vice President – Information Security (Banking)

About the role

The Vice President – Information Security will lead MashreqBank Egypt’s security and risk management program, shaping strategy and protecting critical data and systems. Reporting to senior leadership, the role combines visionary leadership with hands‑on oversight of security operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Information Security and Risk Management team, fostering continuous improvement.
• Design, implement and maintain security policies, procedures and controls aligned with business objectives.
• Monitor emerging cyber threats and adjust the security posture accordingly.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional partners to integrate security into all projects and processes.
• Provide strategic advice to senior management on security matters.
• Oversee incident response, ensuring timely detection, containment and remediation.
• Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments and compliance reviews.
• Ensure adherence to international standards such as PCI DSS, SWIFT CSP and GDPR.
• Mentor and grow team members, promoting a culture of learning and ethical conduct.

Required profile

• Minimum 14 years of experience in information security, preferably within the banking sector.
• Proven leadership and people‑management capabilities.
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to influence senior stakeholders.
• Deep understanding of security governance, risk management and incident response.
• Commitment to ethical practices and confidentiality.

Required skills

• Expertise in PCI DSS, SWIFT CSP and GDPR compliance.
• Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, CEH, SANS, PCI‑QSA, CIPP/E or CIPM.
• Solid knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems, databases and security management frameworks.
