Chief Estimator (Civil & Architectural)

About the role

Archirodon, an international EPC contractor active for more than half a century in energy, marine, infrastructure and defense and security projects, is looking for a Chief Estimator (Civil & Architectural) to join its team at the Regional Office in New Cairo, Egypt. The role leads the estimating team while staying directly involved in preparing detailed estimates.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates and quantity takeoffs for civil and architectural works, from first principles
• Develop unit rates covering labor, materials, equipment and subcontract costs
• Review tender drawings and specifications, including USACE requirements and U.S. codes and standards
• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations
• Coordinate with other departments to deliver complete, accurate and timely tender submissions

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
• Minimum 15 years of relevant construction estimating experience, with substantial experience in civil and architectural works
• Demonstrated ability to lead an estimating team while personally preparing and checking detailed estimates
• Strong written and spoken English, commercial judgment, attention to detail and ability to work under tight tender deadlines

Required skills

• Familiarity with USACE requirements, tender documents and specifications, and U.S. codes such as IBC, ACI, ASTM and NFPA
• Ability to interpret drawings and specifications, calculate quantities and develop defensible unit-rate analyses
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and digital quantity takeoff and estimating software
• Nice to have: international project experience, USACE or U.S. Department of State/OBO projects, design-build and design-bid-build contracts, CSI Master Format and USACE systems such as MII/MCACES
