Data Engineer (m/f/d)

About the role

sonnen is looking for a Data Engineer to join its analytics team in Cairo. You will help build and maintain a robust AWS‑based data platform that powers business intelligence and data‑science initiatives for the energy‑transition business.

Key responsibilities

• Define and design the architecture of the analytics platform, ensuring scalability, performance and reliability.
• Design, build and operate scalable data pipelines, ETL processes, data lakes and data‑warehousing solutions.
• Develop and maintain data integration workflows for structured and unstructured sources.
• Implement, test and maintain infrastructure components and deploy data models.
• Set up data‑quality checks and monitoring to guarantee accuracy and consistency.
• Establish coding standards, use version control (Gitlab) and support analysts and data scientists in productionising algorithms.
• Stay current with emerging data‑engineering technologies and evaluate their fit.
• Coach and pair‑program with junior engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• At least 3 years of professional experience as a Data Engineer, Data Scientist or Data Architect.
• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience with ETL tools, data modelling and data architecture.
• Proven experience with Big‑Data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive and Spark.
• Ability to translate business goals into technical solutions.
