General Accountant (Accounts Payable)

About the role

Chalhoub Group, a luxury retailer with over 10 owned brands and more than 950 stores across the Middle East, is hiring a General Accountant in Cairo. The role supports day-to-day accounting operations with a focus on Accounts Payable, supplier reconciliations and accurate financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Handle Accounts Payable: review supplier invoices, verify supporting documents and process them accurately and on time
• Perform supplier statement reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and follow up on overdue items
• Manage supplier prepayments and prepaid accounts, including allocation and reconciliation
• Maintain accounting records, journal entries and general ledger accounts
• Support month-end closing and book closure, and assist in preparing financial reports and account reconciliations
• Apply IFRS standards in daily transactions and reporting, and carry out basic financial analysis
• Coordinate with internal departments and suppliers on payment queries, support audit requirements and work with ERP systems

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• 1-3 years of general accounting experience, preferably with hands-on Accounts Payable experience
• Good command of English, including reading business emails and writing correspondence
• Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy and analytical skills
• Good communication and organisational skills, able to meet month-end deadlines

Required skills

• Fundamental accounting principles and the accounting cycle (accruals, provisions, prepayments, reconciliations, journal entries)
• Basic knowledge of financial statements and IFRS
• ERP systems; SAP experience is a strong advantage
