WHS Specialist, Workplace Health & Safety

About the role

The Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Specialist will protect Amazon associates working in quick‑commerce “dark store” environments. You will translate safety standards into daily practice, lead awareness projects and support management to meet regulatory and internal compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular site visits across dark stores to assess safety conditions, provide recommendations and reduce risk.
• Perform risk assessments and safety audits covering in‑store operations, rider activities, material handling and equipment usage.
• Monitor, analyse and report safety performance metrics, incident data and leading indicators to identify trends.
• Support implementation of new safety controls, procedures and mitigation measures tailored to rapid‑picking and rider dispatch processes.
• Ensure compliance with Amazon supply‑chain, WHS and third‑party safety policies as well as local regulations.
• Lead daily/weekly safety briefings, stand‑ups and discussions with operations teams and third‑party partners.
• Assist investigations of incidents, near‑misses and serious injuries, documenting root causes and corrective actions.
• Verify safety training completion for associates, riders and partners and assess effectiveness through audits.
• Represent quick‑commerce safety risks in regional WHS meetings and drive continuous‑improvement projects.

Required profile

• Proven experience conducting safety audits and risk assessments in fast‑paced, high‑throughput environments.
• Strong analytical ability to interpret safety metrics and identify priority risk areas.
• Excellent communication skills to lead briefings, train staff and collaborate with third‑party partners.
• Knowledge of local occupational health and safety regulations and ability to ensure compliance.
