Accounts Payable Senior Associate

About the role

PwC is hiring a Senior Associate for its Advisory practice in Cairo, focused on Accounts Payable within a finance delivery / shared-services environment. The role covers accurate invoice processing, vendor account maintenance, payment preparation, issue resolution, reconciliations, compliance with approvals, and support for month-end close and audit requirements. It involves coordination with procurement, business requestors, vendors, treasury, tax and client finance teams.

Key responsibilities

• Process and review vendor invoices, credit notes, debit notes, employee reimbursement support and other AP transactions in line with client policies and service levels.
• Validate invoice data, purchase order references, receipt status, tax treatment, payment terms, supplier details, approvals and supporting documents before posting or routing.
• Perform two-way or three-way matching, investigate mismatches and prepare and post AP entries, adjustments, accrual support and prepayment schedules.
• Support payment runs by preparing payment proposals, validating due items, checking holds and resolving rejected or returned payments.
• Monitor AP aging, blocked invoices, GR/IR open items, duplicate invoice risks and vendor statement reconciliations, and follow up with vendors and stakeholders to resolve exceptions.
• Maintain AP trackers, query logs, approval evidence and exception notes, and assist with month-end close accruals and subledger-to-general ledger reconciliation.
• Support tax and compliance requirements (VAT, withholding tax, statutory documentation) and prepare documentation for internal, external, tax and statutory audits.
• Apply segregation of duties, delegation of authority and vendor master controls, and take part in transition, stabilization and process-improvement activities.
• Support KPI and service-level reporting and collaborate with GL, procurement, treasury, tax, IT and client business teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field; professional certification or in-progress qualification is an advantage.
• 3-6 years of accounts payable or procure-to-pay experience, preferably in shared services, BPO, professional services or multinational environments.
• Strong understanding of AP processes, invoice validation, PO and non-PO invoices, payment support, vendor queries, reconciliations and month-end close.
• Good Excel skills, including reconciliations, pivot tables, lookups and aging analysis.
• Exposure to audit support, professional services or a control-focused finance environment is a plus; German is a plus.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of accounting concepts such as accruals, prepayments, GR/IR, vendor balances, tax codes and subledger-to-G/L reconciliations.
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics/AX; SAP AP/MM exposure is highly desirable.
• Internal controls, delegation of authority, segregation of duties and duplicate-payment prevention awareness.
