Chief Maintenance Engineer – Hotels

About the role

The Chief Maintenance Engineer leads the engineering team responsible for the upkeep of all hotel facilities, ensuring seamless operation of mechanical, electromechanical and energy systems across a large property.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the engineering team to execute repairs, preventive maintenance schedules and annual contracts.
• Evaluate mechanical and electromechanical systems using principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer and materials.
• Implement health, safety and HACCP programs in line with hotel, brand and municipal standards.
• Coordinate maintenance planning, material supply and oversee installation, operation and repair of equipment.
• Investigate equipment failures, diagnose issues and provide recommendations to the maintenance crew.
• Develop and manage energy‑conservation initiatives to reduce costs and support sustainability.
• Improve standard operating procedures and lead emergency response programs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of maintenance management experience, with the last 5 years in a senior engineering role.
• At least 5 years managing maintenance for a five‑star hotel with 350+ rooms.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance policies, change management and multi‑tasking abilities.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
