Commis - Culinary Team

About the role

A hotel belonging to the Accor network, which brings together more than 45 brands, 5,500 hotels, 10,000 restaurants and lifestyle destinations, is looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Commis to join its culinary team in Cairo, Egypt. You will work under the guidance of experienced chefs, supporting the preparation and execution of high-quality dishes in a dynamic kitchen.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior chefs in preparing ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping and portioning
• Prepare basic dishes and components according to recipes and culinary standards
• Maintain and organise your workstation for efficiency and cleanliness during each shift
• Support mise en place by gathering and arranging ingredients and equipment
• Follow food safety and sanitation protocols
• Help with plating and presentation, and monitor food quality, reporting concerns to senior staff
• Collaborate with the kitchen team to meet service demands and help with inventory management and stock rotation
• Be flexible and support various kitchen stations and tasks

Required profile

• Culinary training or certification (CAP, diploma or equivalent)
• Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen and stand for long periods
• Strong teamwork, organisation and time management skills
• Willingness to learn, take direction and adapt to changing schedules

• Proficiency with kitchen equipment and basic knife skills
