Fire Life Safety Manager

About the role

The Fire Life Safety Manager assesses risks in the hotel work environment to minimize illness and injury among associates during work hours. The role inspects hazardous factors and the quality of equipment and facilities used by staff, and leads the organization toward a healthy and safe workplace through advice, monitoring, reporting and staff engagement in safe practices.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect workplaces, equipment and practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations, and carry out hazard and risk assessments including quarterly OSHA/safety audits, incident tracking and hazard abatement.
• Submit workplace risk assessment reports and occupational health and safety workbooks, propose the workbook to the committee every six months, and file biannual reports with the Labor Protection and Welfare Office.
• Suspend activities that threaten workers' health or safety, investigate accidents and health-related complaints, and advise management on safety issues.
• Maintain or update emergency response plans, develop emergency procedures with other departments, and work with engineers, physicians or nurses on controls for hazardous conditions.
• Develop workplace hygiene standards and inspect areas for fire prevention equipment, safety equipment and first-aid supplies.
• Conduct safety training and orientation for all employees at least once a year, prepare training materials, and maintain inventories of hazardous materials, medical supplies and equipment.
• Develop medical monitoring programs, maintain relationships with local law enforcement, and perform other safety tasks assigned by management.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Occupational Health and Safety or a similar field, or three to five years of experience in a related field.
