Electrical Engineer I (Assistant Electrical Engineer)

About the role

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an Electrical Engineer I (Assistant Electrical Engineer) to join its Egypt office. The role focuses on the design and review of low‑voltage (LV) and medium‑voltage (MV) electrical distribution networks for a variety of building types, including offices, residential and commercial projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop single‑line diagrams, distribution network strategies and electrical load lists.
• Design LV/MV distribution networks, size main equipment, cables, breakers, CTs and power‑factor correction devices.
• Prepare layout drawings for lighting, earthing, lightning protection, small power and motor‑control centres.
• Coordinate with architects, civil, structural and mechanical disciplines and liaise with system engineers and specialist suppliers.
• Assist senior engineers on technical tasks and communicate effectively with project stakeholders.
• Utilise BIM tools such as Revit, BIM 360 and Navisworks throughout the design process.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in electrical design or consultancy.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum “Very Good” academic standing.
• Proven ability to interpret international codes (BS, IEC, NEC, NFPA, CIBSE, IESNA, ISO) and local Middle‑East standards.
• Strong command of English, both written and spoken.
• Experience working in multicultural, multi‑disciplinary environments.

Required skills

• LV and MV distribution network design and review.
• Single‑line diagram and load list preparation.
• Equipment sizing (cables, breakers, CTs, power‑factor correction).
• Lighting, earthing and lightning‑protection design.
• Fire‑alarm system knowledge (preferred).
• Revit, BIM 360, Navisworks.
• Dialux, Relux, Dialux Evo, ETAP, ProDesign, generator‑sizing and lightning‑protection calculation software.
• AutoCAD, ACC, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
