F&B Captain

About the role

Marriott Hotels & Resorts is hiring an F&B Captain. The role covers the coordination of food and beverage service during events, from preparing the room and setting the table to communicating guest needs to the kitchen and handling payments.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate service needs to chefs and stewards throughout functions and set tables according to event type and service standards.
• Total up charges for group functions and prepare and present checks to group contacts for payment.
• Ensure banquet rooms, restaurants and coffee breaks are ready for service, with proper centerpieces on every table.
• Inspect the cleanliness and presentation of china, glass and silver before use.
• Check in with guests to ensure their satisfaction and communicate meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs and special requests to the kitchen.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the day.
• Follow company and safety and security policies, report accidents and unsafe conditions, complete safety training and certifications, and keep a professional appearance and confidentiality.
• Welcome guests according to company standards, speak clearly and professionally, and build positive working relationships with colleagues.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least 2 years of related work experience.
• At least 1 year of supervisory experience.
• Able to move, lift and carry objects up to 25 pounds, stand, sit or walk for long periods, and perform other reasonable duties requested by supervisors.
