Gender Expert – Gender Analysis for Nourishing Futures Programme (Remote)

About the role

This consultancy supports UNICEF Egypt’s “Nourishing Futures” Programme (2025–2030) by conducting a comprehensive gender‑based analysis and strengthening gender‑equality outcomes across maternal and girls’ nutrition interventions. The Gender Expert will work remotely for three months, providing evidence‑based recommendations to embed gender‑responsive actions throughout the programme.

Key responsibilities

• Identify gender‑specific and intersectional gaps, barriers, and opportunities across all programme components.
• Assess alignment with UNICEF GAP principles, Canada’s Gender Equality Checklist, and FIAP outcomes.
• Recommend concrete, measurable gender‑responsive and transformative actions, indicators, and monitoring mechanisms.
• Ensure integration of intersectional dimensions (age, disability, socio‑economic status, geographic location) and meaningful engagement of men and boys as agents of change.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Public Health or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in gender analysis and mainstreaming in development programmes.
• Fluency in Arabic and English.
• Familiarity with UNICEF Gender Policy, GAP, OECD DAC Gender Marker, Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy, GBA Plus and the Gender Equality Toolkit.
• Past experience in nutrition‑related programmes is an asset.

Required skills

• Knowledge of UNICEF Gender Policy and GAP framework.
• Understanding of OECD DAC Gender Marker.
• Experience with Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy.
• Proficiency in GBA Plus methodology.
• Use of the Gender Equality Toolkit.
