Head of Public and Government Affairs

About the role

The Head of Public and Government Affairs will lead Boehringer Ingelheim's policy and advocacy agenda for the New Africa Operating Unit. Based in Cairo, the role ensures a favourable business environment for the company’s medicines by shaping public policy and building strong relationships with government and health‑care stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse political, legislative and health‑policy trends across Northeast and West Africa.
• Provide strategic counsel to senior management on business planning and reputation risk.
• Develop and execute advocacy plans that align with corporate objectives and promote patient access to medicines.
• Act as the primary liaison with Health Care Affairs and external stakeholders, increasing the company’s visibility with policymakers.
• Lead engagement with trade associations and represent the region within the global Government Relations network.
• Prepare and approve positioning papers, letters, presentations and other advocacy documents.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• 7+ years of professional experience, including at least 3 years in public or government relations within the health sector.
• Minimum 2 years of leadership experience.
• Proven experience working in the Northeast & West Africa region.
• Business fluency in Arabic and English.
