Python Backend Engineer – Remote (Egypt)

About the role

We are looking for a senior Python Backend Engineer to join an international team building scalable services for a large‑scale digital product. The role is fully remote, based in Egypt, and works aligned with UK business hours. You will own production services, improve performance, and help shape the backend architecture.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement new backend functionality in a decoupled service architecture.
• Maintain and extend existing services, optimizing performance as needed.
• Take ownership of production services and contribute to their long‑term evolution.
• Participate in technical design discussions, architecture decisions, and code reviews.
• Write and maintain technical documentation and design documents.
• Troubleshoot issues using profiling, logs, and monitoring tools such as New Relic.
• Support teammates and promote a strong engineering culture.
• Explore and introduce new technologies responsibly, including AI coding assistants.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and clear communication in English.
• Proactive attitude and willingness to ask clarifying questions.
