Rolling Stock Engineer

About the role

The Rolling Stock Engineer will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on metro rolling stock systems at the Cairo Metro Line 1 Workshop. The role ensures safety, reliability and availability of trains during early operations and offers a solid technical foundation for future supervisory or management positions.

Key responsibilities

• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, braking, door and control systems.
• Diagnose faults, resolve operational issues and ensure compliance with OEM manuals and safety procedures.
• Investigate failures, conduct root‑cause analysis and provide immediate technical solutions.
• Monitor condition and performance trends, report recurring issues and suggest improvements.
• Record all maintenance activities in the CMMS (SAP/Maximo or similar) and prepare fault and intervention reports.
• Adhere to safety, permit‑to‑work and environmental regulations, reporting hazards and incidents.
• Support the shift from reactive to preventive and predictive maintenance, recommending procedural enhancements.
• Participate in training, competency development and act in supervisory or coordination roles as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical or mechatronics engineering.
• 3–10 years of experience in heavy transport systems, preferably rolling stock maintenance.
• Experience with metro or railway systems and CMMS usage.
• Clear communication skills in English (speaking, reading, writing).
