Senior Accountant - Finance

About the role

EY Egypt is looking for a knowledgeable, technology-minded Senior Accountant to support its finance operations. The role combines ownership of general ledger and closing activities with responsibility for accounts receivable, tax compliance support, treasury coordination, financial planning and control of accounting records.

Key responsibilities

• Own general ledger accounting, including journals, reclassifications, accruals, prepayments, open-item clearing and period-end activities
• Prepare and review balance sheet, bank and fixed asset reconciliations
• Manage accounts receivable: system uploads, collection reviews, interoffice follow-up, cheque administration and stakeholder queries
• Support tax preparation and statutory compliance (VAT, withholding tax, reverse charge, e-invoicing)
• Coordinate local finance activities such as bank statements, bank guarantees, advances and insurance-related entries
• Maintain vendor and customer master data and support finance-system records
• Assist with cash flow projections, budgeting, financial analysis and management reporting
• Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with finance policies, internal controls and record-retention standards
• Use SAP, Microsoft 365 and AI-enabled tools to automate routine work and strengthen controls

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field
• 3-5 years of progressive accounting and finance experience in a well-established multinational
• Hands-on experience in general ledger, reconciliations, closing, accounts receivable and local finance operations
• Fluent written and spoken English
• Ideal: experience in a finance or client-facing role in professional services or a multinational, knowledge of GCC government invoicing and payment practices, exposure to system rollouts, and experience in continuous improvement

Required skills

• Good working knowledge of Egyptian VAT, withholding tax, reverse charge and e-invoicing
• SAP and advanced Microsoft 365, especially Excel
• Good knowledge of AI and AI-enabled productivity tools
