About the role
Valeo is seeking a Software Engineer to develop safety‑critical embedded software for high‑voltage powertrain components. The role focuses on creating robust C code for microcontrollers, applying automotive standards, and leveraging AI tools to accelerate development.
Key responsibilities
- Utilize AI‑assisted and traditional debugging techniques to resolve complex hardware/software issues.
- Develop and test safety‑critical Embedded C code for microcontrollers, including Basic Software (BSW), Hardware Abstraction Layers (HAL), and low‑level drivers such as ADC, PWM, SPI, CAN, and LIN.
- Implement software for high‑voltage products like inverters, DC‑DC converters, battery management systems, thermal management, and smart actuators.
- Leverage Generative AI, Agentic AI, and LLM fundamentals to accelerate development and automate routine tasks.
- Ensure compliance with automotive standards including AUTOSAR, ISO 26262, and ISO 21434.
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and thermal engineers to define system constraints and optimize powertrain performance.
- Maintain code quality through MISRA C compliance, thorough documentation, and rigorous testing.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies such as daily stand‑ups, sprint planning, and reviews.
- Work with cross‑functional teams to guarantee traceability from requirements to final product.
- Provide regular status reports on progress, risks, and technical challenges.
Required profile
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechatronics, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 0–2 years of experience in embedded software development (internships and academic projects count).
- Strong familiarity with Generative AI, Agentic AI, and LLM fundamentals; machine learning knowledge is a plus.
