Consultant – Migration-Development Nexus for Egypt

About the role

The Economic Commission for Africa seeks an experienced consultant to strengthen the migration‑development nexus in Egypt. The role focuses on analysing diaspora remittances, identifying regulatory gaps, and designing frameworks that channel diaspora investments toward sustainable development.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare an initial report (R1) outlining the work plan, conceptual framework, methodology, and activity timeline.
• Produce a country situation analysis report (R2) assessing existing legal, institutional, and financial frameworks for remittances in Egypt, highlighting gaps and challenges.
• Develop a proposed regulatory and institutional framework (R3) drawing on international best practices and tailored to Egypt’s context.
• Draft a detailed roadmap (R4) with actions, reforms, and timelines to implement the framework and enhance diaspora investment.
• Design and facilitate a final workshop to present the framework and action plan to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in economics, development studies, public policy, or a related field.
• Proven experience in migration, diaspora, or remittance policy analysis, preferably in an African context.
• Strong analytical abilities and experience producing high‑quality technical reports.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation.
