Director of Human Resources – Egypt

About the role

The Director of Human Resources will join the Senior Management Team of Save the Children’s Egypt Country Office, providing strategic HR leadership across humanitarian and development programmes. Reporting to the Country Director, the role ensures HR services align with global standards, national legislation, and the organisation’s mission to improve children’s lives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the HR function, overseeing HR officers, senior officers, managers, and payroll/benefits staff.
• Develop and maintain HR policies, manuals, and procedures, ensuring compliance with Save the Children standards and Egyptian law.
• Support programme implementation by providing timely HR services, especially during emergency responses.
• Drive staff wellbeing initiatives, including mental health and psychosocial support.
• Collaborate with government authorities and external partners to strengthen relationships.
• Assist the Country Director with workforce planning, rightsizing, and organisational design.
• Ensure HR systems can scale rapidly for humanitarian staffing needs.

Required profile

• Proven senior HR leadership experience in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong knowledge of Egyptian labour law and international HR best practices.
• Ability to work effectively on a senior management team and influence organisational culture.
• Fluent in English and Arabic.
• Legal right to work in Egypt for the contract duration.

Required skills

• Expertise in HR policy development and implementation.
• Experience managing payroll, benefits, and employee wellbeing programmes.
• Competence in HR systems that support rapid scaling.
