Structural Design Engineer

About the role

The Structural Design Engineer will deliver safe and economical reinforced‑concrete designs for a variety of building projects, ensuring full compliance with the Egyptian Code (ECP). The role involves design, value‑engineering, and on‑site technical support.

Key responsibilities

• Model, analyse and design RC structures such as raft/pile foundations, retaining walls, slabs and cores using ETABS, SAP2000 and SAFE.
• Prepare complete design calculation packages and drawings; supervise drafting and bar‑bend‑shape (BBS) production.
• Review and value‑engineer consultant designs, quantifying concrete and rebar savings while maintaining safety factors.
• Conduct technical reviews of shop drawings, approve BBS, and resolve site issues including openings, strengthening, repairs and concrete quality concerns.
• Assess client‑driven modification requests and issue structural clearances.
• Maintain up‑to‑date design templates and spreadsheets aligned with the latest ECP provisions.
• Mentor junior engineers, checking their models and calculations.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Civil or Structural Engineering (M.Sc. a plus) and membership in the Engineers Syndicate.
• Minimum 5 years of structural design experience in consultancy or contractor design offices, preferably on residential or mixed‑use projects.
• Strong knowledge of the Egyptian Code (ECP 203); familiarity with ACI is a plus.
• Good command of English for technical reporting.

Required skills

• Expert use of ETABS, SAP2000 and SAFE.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of Revit Structure is advantageous.
• Advanced Excel for design sheets and quantity benchmarking.
