System Engineer, Power

About the role

Valeo is seeking a System Engineer specialized in power electronics to develop system functions for inverters, on‑board chargers and DC/DC converters. The role involves working with customers, cross‑functional teams and adhering to ASPICE and ISO 26262 standards.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in RFQ phases, assess requirements and engage with customers.
• Design, analyse and review detailed system requirements and create technical documentation.
• Simulate electromagnetic behaviour of synchronous machines (PMSM, EESM) and associated power electronics.
• Collaborate with system architects and HW/SW/MD teams on interfaces and integration.
• Support software, hardware and testing stakeholders and conduct reviews of specifications and test cases.
• Ensure compliance with project processes, configuration management and report progress in regular meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering (Master’s in Power Electronics or Motor Control is a plus).
• At least 1.5 years of relevant experience in power electronics.
• Fluent English; German is a plus.

Required skills

• MATLAB scripting and Simulink modelling.
• Pspice modelling (optional).
• Strong knowledge of power electronics, electrical drives and control of electrical machines (FOC, PWM, current controller design).
• Experience with DC/DC converters (Boost, LLC) and their modelling (switched and average models).
• Familiarity with ASPICE and ISO 26262 standards.
