Trade Operations Officer / Senior Officer

About the role

The Trade Operations Officer / Senior Officer will manage the processing of letters of credit (LCs), import‑export documents (IBCs) and related financial transactions for clients in the 10th of Ramadan area. The role ensures compliance with bank policies, Sharia principles and regulatory requirements while providing high‑quality service to importers and exporters.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, review and verify all documents related to LCs and IBCs, notifying importers for goods release.
• Check LC/IBC terms, conditions, and goods descriptions for compliance with bank policies and Sharia.
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of data such as applicant/beneficiary details, amounts, currencies, payment terms, shipment information and required documents.
• Process amendments received via SWIFT or airmail and validate authenticity.
• Verify client account balances, approve extensions or increases, and screen parties against blacklist lists.
• Prepare and transmit LCs to advising banks, generate weekly and monthly CBE reports, and manage original shipping documents.
• Execute debiting and crediting in the bank’s NOSTRO account using the Trade Wind system.
• Communicate with trade department and branch officers, respond to inquiries, and obtain necessary approvals per delegation matrix.
• Maintain accurate records, scan schedules, and coordinate courier dispatch of documents.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and ability to verify complex trade documents.
• Knowledge of trade finance instruments, including letters of credit, IBCs and FX requests.
• Familiarity with Sharia‑compliant banking procedures.
• Experience checking blacklists and assessing risk for parties and countries.
• Ability to work under supervision of senior officers and team leaders.
