Assistant Category Manager – tMart Groceries

About the role

Talabat, part of the Delivery Hero Group, is looking for an Assistant Category Manager to focus on growing its own grocery store, tMart, a cloud store concept offering 30-minute delivery of groceries at hypermarket prices. The role covers full ownership of the category in terms of assortment, pricing, offers and supply.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the economic performance of assigned departments and categories across sales, gross margin, profit and loss, and ensure alignment with the company's commercial strategy
• Implement the commercial strategy and strategic guidelines, including the categories plan and pricing strategy
• Support the Ops team with flows, adjacencies, tools and templates, and fixtures
• Review and resolve issues with local suppliers
• Assortment: define and maintain the local assortment, integrate the basic assortment, and provide regional teams with product and quantity information for international and regional contracts
• Select local suppliers, negotiate and purchase in line with cost price, discounts, rebates and payment terms
• Pricing: set prices according to guidelines and recommended prices for PL and imported items, collect market prices and run country price audits
• Promotions: identify local promo products, price them, submit forecasting and reordering data, develop the country promotion calendar, follow up execution and analyse consumer preferences, competitors and trends

Required profile

• At least 5+ years of experience developing and managing multiple product categories in large retailers (FMCG) in an international setting
• Experience building teams and leading cross-functional projects at scale
• Detail-oriented, structured and able to prioritise, with strong analytical and communication skills
• Able to interact with senior executives and manage the expectations of multiple stakeholders
• Fluent English and Arabic
